The Full Story

A number of activities have been planned by the St. Mary Parish Council to celebrate Local Government Month from November 1 to 30.
Sheldon Peart, Secretary/Manager for the St. Mary Parish Council, told JIS News that the month of observances would be held under the theme: ‘Be community wise: Organize and mobilize, together we will rise’, and include the convening of a Youth Council on Thursday, November 20; a long service awards ceremony on Thursday, November 27; and a games evening to be held on Friday, November 28 for Council staff and community members.
Other activities during the month will be a town meeting at the Port Maria Civic Centre to report on the Council’s work and performance, while members of the Council will visit schools and community meetings, to sensitise the public about the Local Government Reform process.
Mr. Peart urged residents to support the events noting that they were aimed at helping them to better understand how the Council operated.
