September 29, 2010

The Full Story

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is reporting that there is limited access to the town of Lucea as a result of flooding from persistent rainfall associated with Tropical Storm Nicole.
Parish Disaster Coordinator for Hanover, Olga Faye Headley, told JIS News that the Riley River and the Venture Gutter drain have overflowed, with water and debris blocking the streets.
She informed that across the parish, minor land slippages have occurred along the Hopewell to Bamboo main road and the Sandy Bay main road.
Meanwhile, in St. James, it is reported that downtown Montego Bay has been seriously affected with a number of areas flooded including Creek Street, Dome Street, the bottom of Union Street, the Fairfield Westgate area, Catherine Hall, and Harbour Street.
