KSAC To Repair 4.3 Kilometres Of Roads In Corporate Area

The Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) will be repairing 4.3 kilometres of roadway in the Corporate Area at a cost of $8.9 million.
Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Desmond McKenzie made the announcement at the KSAC’s monthly press briefing on Wednesday (October 15), at the KSAC’s Downtown Kingston office.
In addition, the KSAC will on Monday, October 20, commence an in-house patching programme across the Corporate Area. “We intend to extend that programme to take us down into the Christmas period where we will be patching a number of roads right across the Corporate Area. The programme is in place and next week you will see signs of the KSAC crew out there,” he said.
On another matter, the Mayor said that the Council would also be tackling the beautification of the city with the renovation of 14 parks.
“We are serious about the look of the city and what can be done to effectively make our Capital city a proud place once again. Presently, we are now working on a programme that will see us initiating work in about 14 parks in the Corporate Area,” he said.
He said the KSAC would also be placing at strategic points, throughout the city, 500 drums to facilitate garbage collections. He said the Council would be inviting “corporate Jamaica to sit with us and be a part of this clean-up exercise that we will be undertaking”.
He said that so far the KSAC had been given a commitment from the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) to assist in the clean-up exercise.
