The Full Story

Dining at the Jamaica Conference Centre is poised to become a tourist attraction with the launch of the new concessionaire services operated by Kaieteure Foods.
According to Managing Director, Patricia Isaacs-Greene and President, Ms. Bevon Morrison, the dining experience in both the Delegates Dining Room and Cafeteria, is now a cultural experience, inclusive of live performances complemented by paintings on display and other works of art, by outstanding Jamaican artists, such as Richard Hall and Alexander Cooper.
Ms. Morrison, who is also a co-host of KLAS FM’s morning talk show, First Edition, told JIS News that each day, the dining experience would feature a musical artiste, some of whom will be fresh talent deserving of exposure.
Mrs. Isaacs-Greene, better known for her association with the international McDonalds fast food franchise, explained that the offerings would not be limited to local fare. The dining facilities will carry Caribbean dishes, the Guyanese-born businesswoman said, noting that treats such as roti would be available.
She also pointed out that the establishment had been careful to select highly qualified persons as part of its workforce – some of whom have worked in the local hotel industry, while others have benefited from overseas training. Additionally, the management has conducted its own communications and training sessions.
“Our vision is to provide our customers with quality food, [and an] enjoyable cultural environment, served by well trained and motivated employees,” the Managing Director stressed.
She also added that they recognised the business potential of downtown Kingston. “We want to be in downtown Kingston because we see as time goes by, that downtown Kingston is changing and we want to be a part of that change,” she noted.
Mrs. Isaacs-Greene disclosed that since Kaieteure Foods began operations at the Conference Centre, in May of this year, the service has catered to large groups, serving over 1,000 persons. These occasions have included large and prominent corporate affairs. Kaieteure Foods also caters to occasions outside of the Conference Centre.
Ms. Morrison and Mrs. Isaacs-Greene also pointed out that the facility, which has its own bakery, provides breads and pastry, which are freshly baked everyday – a ‘must have’ for pastry lovers, they stressed.
Conference Services Manager at the Conference Centre, Nicole Dacres, noted that she has seen an increase in business, since the introduction of Kaieteure Foods. She has also received compliments from satisfied clients, regarding the quality of the meals and service available at the Centre.
Speaking of the range of services that the Conference Centre offers, Ms. Dacres, said in addition to its highly rated conference facilities, the Conference Centre hosts seminars, exhibitions, and weddings, and has also been used as an examination centre for the ACCA and AAT Accounting exams.
