JUTC well Equipped to Transport Students in September

The Full Story

With little more than two weeks remaining before schools re-open for the new academic year, the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) says it is even more equipped to deal with the increased usage than it has been in recent years.
“In comparison to last year, things are quite better, as we have more buses. Apart from greater numbers, the reliability factor is much greater, because we are looking at a more significant concentration of newer units,” Public Relations Manager at the JUTC, Reginald Allen, told JIS News.
Mr. Allen said the company has been learning from the challenges of previous years and is in a much better position to serve its young clients.
He is encouraging students to use the state-run bus service, which, he said, is a “safe, convenient and reassuring” mode of transport.
“We take special pride in our efforts to convey them in the most appropriate and convenient manner, which also helps to reflect in their formative development as youngsters. The whole question of lewd music and inappropriate behaviour, which is associated with some other elements of the public transportation sector, we pride ourselves in being entirely devoid of that kind of undesirable phenomenon,” he said.
Students form a large part of the JUTC’s customer base and with schools about to re-open, it is expected that there will be a spike in the number of passengers, following the lull of the summer holidays.
