The Full Story

Wife of the Prime Minister, the Most. Hon. Juliet Holness, will participate in the Regional Partnership for Children with Disabilities Conference, to be held in Belize from October 13 to 14.

The conference will be held under the theme ‘Breaking Barriers for an Inclusive Society and Empowerment for Children with Disabilities’.

Invitation to the conference was extended to Mrs. Holness by spouse of the Prime Minister of Belize and Special Envoy for Women and Children, Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow.

The conference will highlight issues affecting children with disabilities and seek the commitment of participating countries and organisations to work towards making this a cross-cutting issue among governments, civil society, and the private sector.

It will also bring together regional partners to exchange best practices and experiences and allow for a recommitment to the Convention on the Rights of Persons Living with Disabilities.

While in Belize, Mrs. Holness will attend the ‘Walk With Us!’ Special Olympics Unified Football Games with Mrs. Simplis Barrow, who is also a Global Ambassador for the Special Olympics.

Mrs. Holness departs the island on October 12. The trip is sponsored by the Belizean Government.
