The Full Story

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) will be hosting a Regional Designers Workshop on Tuesday, March 16, at the Ridgemount United Church Hall in Mandeville starting at 9:00 a.m.
The workshop will cater primarily to designers, dressmakers, tailors and clothing and textile students from the central region of Jamaica including the parishes of Manchester, Clarendon and St. Elizabeth.
“We want to target a number of persons in the region to improve the quality of design and choice of colour as it relates to fashion and there are so many technical areas in this art that people can benefit from,” JCDC Clarendon Parish Manager, Cynthia Markland told JIS News.
She said that workshop topics included design principles, elements of design, and choice of colour and texture. Additionally, she said that participants would be given tips on how to improve their businesses.
Miss Markland informed that a registration fee of $500 per person would be charged with a special group rate of $100 per student for all clothing and textile students in all-age and high schools.
The workshop is being sponsored by Singer Company and Pings Fabrics.
