Infant School Fenced By St. Ann Bauxite Partners

A chain link fence has been erected around the Carlton Infant School in Alexandria, St. Ann, by St. Ann Jamaica Bauxite Partners, providing greater protection for the 150 students who attend the institution.
General Manager of the company, Dave Howe, during a recent visit to the school said he hoped the new addition would help to create a better environment for not only the students and teachers, but also for the parents who venture on the compound from time to time.
“As a company, we are committed to the implementation of projects that nurture and protect not only our employees but also members of the wider community in which we operate, and that is why we are happy to have funded this very worthwhile effort,” he said.
Mr. Howe encouraged the students to do their best in terms of their lessons. “Who knows, if you apply yourself, one day you could end up working for us as loyal employees,” he said. Community Relations Officer at the company, Kent Skyers told JIS News that most of his company’s outreach programmes had a strong emphasis on education and the environment.
“This is not the first time that we have undertaken a project which sees the development of students and community lifestyle as being of critical importance. We make no apology for it, as we will be continuing this fine tradition once we can identify the resources to support similar infrastructure development in other needy institutions within our mining area,” he said.
Principal of the School, Yvonne Ricketts had “high praise” for the way in which the bauxite company had dealt with the request for assistance.”This is one very fine example of good corporate citizenship and I know that our children, parents and teachers will all benefit and be less stressed out at the end of the day as a result of this excellent gesture,” she said.
