The Full Story

High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), Anthony Johnson, on Monday (October 25), expressed condolence at the death of veteran Jamaican singer, Gregory Isaacs.
Mr. Johnson described Mr. Isaacs as an outstanding talent who did much to bring Jamaican music to an international audience.
“He had a very smooth romantic voice that was able to be entertaining in any genre of music. It is our good fortune that he chose the medium of reggae where he became famous as the ‘Cool Ruler’.”
Mr. Isaacs, who died at his home in London today, had been suffering from a serious illness for sometime. In 2006 at a special event held at the Jamaican High Commission in London, he launched a special collection of love songs to mark his 30th anniversary in music.
The High Commissioner said Mr. Isaacs faced many challenges, but remained committed writing and performing good music with a positive message.
“He was loved by many people, his fans and his family, and he worked hard to make sure he delivered the quality music that people all over the world enjoyed. I offer deepest condolence to his family and friends,” Mr. Johnson said.
