Hannah Town Community Centre Could be Instrument of Transformation – PM Golding

Prime Minister Bruce Golding told residents of Hannah Town community that the re-established community development centre could be an instrument of transformation if they utilize it to its highest potential.
The Prime Minister who gave the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the development centre on Thursday (February 18) said the centre represents a transition from a bitter past to a brighter future.
“The centre represents a light that can shine into a brighter future but for that brighter future to be achieved, the building alone is not enough. I want to say to the community that it is you who will have to make it work; all that it is now is a building with some equipment and furniture. I hope that you will use the facility and its programmes as a ladder that can help to take the people of Hannah Town out of poverty into a land of promise, hope and opportunities.”

PM Golding donated a computer to the center and pledged his support to the organizers of the centre to assist with the pursuit of getting funding from agencies.

The PM has led the way into aiding the community centre to be the instrument of transformation by donating a computer to get the centre’s programmes going and pledged his support to the organizers of the centre to assist in obtaining funding from development agencies.
The Hannah Town community centre will now serve as an official meeting place for community groups to host their meetings; for children who will have a reading programme on Sundays and will be used for a literacy programme for citizens. The organizers of the centre will be pursuing a partnership with the Ministry of Education and HEART Trust NTA for programmes to support literacy, which is a major challenge in the community.
The building houses a stage which will be used for concerts and performances, a multipurpose court, two halls, a meeting area and an office and three bathrooms.
