Grange Congratulates Outstanding Campbell and Cross Country Athletes

The Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Honourable Olivia Grange, MP has hailed 19 year old Kemoy Campbell and the rest of Jamaica’s junior team that competed at the 6th North American Central American & Caribbean Cross Country Championships in Tobago.
Kemoy Campbell became the first Anglophone-Caribbean athlete to win any category at the NACAC Cross Country Championships when he won the 6K Junior event in a time of 17:59.9 seconds. He finished more than 20 seconds ahead of second placed Mohammed Ahmed of Canada.
Minister Grange said:”I am so happy to hear of Kemoy’s historic victory in the 6K Cross Country Championships event in Tobago. I am not only proud that he is the first Jamaican and first athlete from the English-speaking Caribbean to win at the NACAC Cross Country Championships, but I am very impressed by the manner of his victory. He finished way ahead of the field and I congratulate him heartily and wish him continued success.”
Andre Hosey finished 12th in the 6K (19:36), Rogeek Rochester 13th (19:46) and Kevin White 19th (20:13) as Jamaica finished third in the team ratings behind Canada and the United States.
Jamaica also finished third in the team ratings for the female 4K event as Natoya Goule finished 9th (14.38), Omaya Bailey 10th (14.43), Shevel McDonald 18th (15.45) and Jhevere Hall 19th (15.48).
