Grace, Kennedy and Company Limited will today (March 5) launch its international internship project, the Grace Kennedy Birthright Programme, targeted at children of Jamaican heritage living abroad.

The launch is slated for the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan and Grace’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Douglas Orane and Chief Operating Officer of the Information Services Division, Brian Goldson, are expected to be in New York for the event.

Under the programme, six annual internships will be awarded to second and third generation Jamaican students, three of whom should reside in the United States, two in the United Kingdom and the other in Canada. Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years-old, possess a grade point average of 3.0 or above and are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees.

The internship will last two months, from June to July, and during that time students, will work on rotation thereby gaining professional experience in a variety of industries. Families within the Grace, Kennedy and Company network will host the students during the eight-week period.

In addition, candidates will be immersed in the Jamaican culture, as weekend programmes will also be arranged to include visits to historical sites and scenic locations. The Birthright Programme is slated to be launched in Canada and the United Kingdom on March 9 and 12 respectively.
