Jamaica is to provide US$4 million in support to the Government of Venezuela.

Of the sum, US$3 million will be provided through the Petro-Caribe Development Fund and US$1 million through Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology.

“This decision is taken primarily to give support in the form of medicine, food and fertiliser,” said Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid.

He was speaking at a post-Cabinet press briefing held at Office of the Prime Minister yesterday, July 27.

Cabinet also agreed on the award of a contract to FLOW Jamaica for the installation of unified communication IP phone system.

“This is a Voice over Internet Protocol system for a three-year period at a value of $55.4 million; this to improve services to the courts of Jamaica and the Court Administration Division,” Senator Reid said.
