The Full Story

The Government is maintaining its position regarding speedier timelines for developmental approvals.

Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Hon. Dr. Horace Chang, says this is necessary in ensuring that projects are not setback due to unnecessary administrative delays.

He was speaking at the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 63,000 square feet of additional Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) office space, at the Montego Bay Freezone.

In acknowledging that the state approval process has long been plagued by challenges affecting many developers, Dr. Chang said this was unacceptable and declared that it “will stop!”

He noted that Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, continues to advocate for the speedy approval and implementation of projects, once the requisite procedures have been undertaken.

This, Dr. Chang contended, is indicative, on the Government’s part, of the way in which “we execute our plans (which is) on time and in an efficient manner.”

“This Government will ensure that what has to be executed is done (so) that this country’s economy will grow, jobs are created, and we will have a prosperous society,” he stated.
