The Government has increased the budgetary allocation to the Programme of Advancement through Health and Education (PATH) by $520 million.
Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, made the announcement on May 24 during his contribution to the 2016/17 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives.
He said that PATH remains a critical social protection intervention and human capital investment for the poor and vulnerable.
“The Government is committed to providing the enabling and supportive conditions for poor families and households on PATH to be empowered to work and earn their way out of poverty,” the Prime Minister said.
He informed that the benefits and the assistance level mechanisms are being reviewed.
