The Full Story

The Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon Sir Patrick Allen, has called on the church to become fully involved in addressing concerns essential to solving the country’s social problems.
Addressing the 66th Annual National Conference of the Holiness Christian Church Inc., at the Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort in Ocho Rios St. Ann, His Excellency pointed to some of the fundamental issues, such as education, family, youth and community development.
“More churches need to become engaged in educating the next generation of adults, not only in terms of academic studies but also through the inculcation of moral and social values,” the Governor-General said.
He added that the Church is crucial to social development, and should adopt Christ’s methods which alone could yield success among the people.
Focussing on the theme of the conference, “Advancing the Cause of Christ”, he said that this could be accomplished through evangelism, leadership development and community integration.
He said that Jamaica will be positively transformed when more Jamaicans experience the spiritual regeneration that comes from submission to Christ.
He said that the Church should call the nation together in prayer and fasting for transformation and commitment to the cause, adding that when such steps are taken, the mission will be accomplished.
