Electricity Restored to Sections of May Pen

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCo) has carried out major restoration work in Clarendon, which has resulted in electricity being restored to most sections of May Pen.
Winsome Callum, Manager of Corporate Communications at the JPSCo told JIS News that the company had restored electricity to critical locations, such as the May Pen and Chapelton Hospitals as well as a number of funeral homes.
In addition, areas such as Chapelton Road, Bucks Avenue, sections of Howard Avenue, Sewell Crescent, Main Street, Anderson Drive, Gordon Street, Bryants Crescent, Brooks Avenue, Margaret Avenue and Leward Avenue have also received electricity, following the onslaught by Hurricane Ivan last week. Miss Callum pointed out that the company had energized National Water Commission (NWC) pumps in the communities of Mineral Heights, Inglewood, Sevens Road, Bucknor, Denbigh Kraal, York Town and Vernamfield. This means that customers in Clarendon who are served by these pumps should now be receiving their regular water supply, as long as the pumps are operational.
She explained that extensive work needed to be done on the Monymusk substation, which meant that residents of Southern Clarendon would be without their regular electricity supply until next week.
Miss Callum noted that the JPSCo crews continued to work tirelessly to repair this substation and to restore electricity to the rest of Clarendon.
