Education, Youth and Information Minister, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, says he is ready to take charge of the portfolio given to him by Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness.

“I am very delighted to be given the opportunity to steer this important ship at a time when all of us want to see education move forward. I have been given the baton to add my own value on how we can position the Ministry of Education,” he said.

The Minister was speaking at a welcoming reception with Heads of Departments at the Ministry, National Heroes Circle, in Kingston, March 8.

Senator Reid and the State Minister, Hon. Floyd Green, were congratulated on their new appointments.

Minister Reid impressed upon Ministry officials the importance of teamwork and the importance he places on his staff’s welfare.

“I look forward to us working together to enhance the development of our country,” he told them.

For his part, the State Minister said he is pleased to be serving in the Ministry,   citing the identifiable synergies that exist between the areas.

“I am very happy to be working with the team. I know that we’re at a stage where we have been positioned to move Jamaica. I am looking forward to it,” he told Ministry officials.

Following the welcome reception, Minister Reid and State Minister Green held a meeting with Heads of departments.
