Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of e-Gov Jamaica Limited, Herman Athias, says his Agency continues to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the nation’s Government agencies, 30 years later.

“This organisation continues to make contributions with applications that deliver a much better and timely quality of service to our citizens. In that regard, it enhances the productivity of the country. We still have a way to go and we still have work to do,” he said.

Mr. Athias was speaking with JIS News at the Agency’s 30th anniversary luncheon, held at its headquarters on Old Hope Road in St. Andrew, on April 22.

The e-Gov CEO acknowledged that the additional work needed to be done related to an increase optimisation of Government practices, and processes to bring ease to Jamaicans doing business.

“For example, a business person who wants to start a business has to traverse several Ministries, Departments and Agencies…., we need to get to a place where they go to one place to start the process and it finishes there,” he said.

Meanwhile, the entity’s visionary, former Prime Minister, the Most. Hon. Edward Seaga, thanked the management and staff for the work they have done and encouraged them to continue their contribution.

Chairman of e-Gov Jamaica Limited, Dr. Lloyd Waller echoed the sentiments of the former Prime Minister and lauded the staff for their critical contribution to Jamaica’s development.

He described e-Gov as one of the “most substantive” concepts that Mr. Seaga developed in Jamaica and the region.

Also, former Managing Director, Dyon Woolcock, lauded the contribution of the Agency for providing ease of business for Jamaicans.

During the luncheon, several employees were awarded for years of service.

Celebrating 30 years in operations this year, eGov Jamaica Limited has revolutionised the Government of Jamaica’s interactions with its entities, citizens and businesses through the power of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

The Agency provides information technology consultant services, Government of Jamaica validation services, software and development and infrastructure design and development.
