Finance and Planning Minister, Hon. Dr. Peter Phillips, is slated to tour the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Thursday, October 30, and meet with 50 of the most prominent members of the New York financial community.

The tour is part of the Minister’s three-day visit to the city from October 29 to 31.  While at the NYSE Minister Phillips will be interviewed by CNBC.

Managing Partner of Commonwealth Partners, Rohan Barnett, who organised the visit, said the tour of the stock exchange and interview on CNBC is a tribute to Dr. Phillips’ excellent work in “managing the Jamaican economy through a difficult period”.

He said it will provide Jamaica with a world-wide audience through the reach of CNBC as well as his discussions with members of the financial community in New York.

Also tomorrow, the Finance Minister will be the presenter at this year’s Caribbean International Network (CIN) lecture, where he will speak on the topic: ‘Jamaica’s Path to Prosperity’.

The annual lecture, slated for the historic Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, is regarded as one of the premier events on the Caribbean calendar in New York and is expected to attract a large cross section of business leaders, diplomats, college professors, and members of the religious and Caribbean communities.

While in New York, Minister Phillips is also scheduled to address a luncheon organised by the Jamaican American Chamber of Commerce as well as a promotional breakfast hosted by JAMPRO.  The Minister will return to the island on November 1.
