Dr. Carlton Davis Appointed as Ambassador and Special Envoy

Dr. the Hon. Carlton Davis, OJ, CD, has been appointed as Ambassador and Special Envoy in the Office of the Prime Minister.
Dr. Davis will provide support, advice and perspectives to the Prime Minister in the areas of Governance, with a focus on ensuring coherence and establishing priorities in the formulation and implementation of policies among the various ministries, public sector reform, and negotiations regarding conditions of public service.
Dr. Davis will also advise the Prime Minister on macro and micro-economic policy issues; the bauxite/alumina and energy sectors; the working relationship between the Office of the Prime Minister and that of the Governor General, and foreign economic and political relations.
Dr. Davis, who served as Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Jamaica civil Service between 1993 and 2008, is an internationally renowned authority on the bauxite and alumina industry, an author of several publications, including three books on the Jamaican bauxite industry and has served as Chairman of several public sector agencies.
During his distinguished career, he has been accorded the national honours of Order of Jamaica and Commander of the Order of Distinction. Dr. Davis is also a Gleaner Honour Awardee and World Bank Awardee for Outstanding public Service.
