AGRICULTURAL AND INDUSTRIAL SHOWS
Since 1895, the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) has been at the forefront of the promotion of Agriculture and has mounted several shows island wide. The first show staged by the Society was the Kendal Show, which was held in Kendal, Clarendon and since then, District and Parish Shows have been held in every parish throughout the island with the main attractions being livestock, agricultural and horticultural exhibits.
FEATURES OF THE SHOW
In the promotion of the best in agriculture, the Show features outstanding livestock, agricultural and horticultural exhibits from all fourteen parishes in Jamaica. Over the years, several additional features and competitions have been added. Two, which are now hallmarks of the Show, are the National Champion Farmer Competition, the National Young Farmer Competition and the NATIONAL Farm Queen Competition.
