CHTIC for Ritz Carlton from May 10 – 12

The 8th annual Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference (CHTIC) will take place at the Ritz Carlton Golf and Spa Resort in Montego Bay from May 10 to 12.
The CHTIC was founded in 1997 by the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) and the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) with the objectives of improving the tourism investment and operating climate regionally; making the investment community aware of development opportunities available in the Caribbean and stimulating the flow of equity and loan capital in the region.
The conference’s local hosts are the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) and the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB).
At the conference, renowned experts in the finance, investment and tourism fields will discuss the most important developments in this sector and the opportunities available in the Caribbean. Prime Minister, P. J. Patterson, will deliver the keynote address at the conference while Minister of Industry and Tourism, Aloun Ndombet-Assamba along with JAMPRO President, Patricia Francis and University of the West Indies Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Hillary Beckles will make presentations.
Speaking at the launch on Friday (April 2) at JAMPRO, Trafalgar Road in Kingston, Minister of Development, Paul Robertson, hailed the conference as an opportunity to promote Jamaica as a brand internationally.
“It is no secret that Jamaica has brand recognition internationally and it is the aim of my office working with the line ministries such as the Ministry of Industry and Tourism and agencies such as JAMPRO to continue promoting the well known, rich, diverse products that Jamaica offers,” said Minister Robertson.
Through this collaboration, he noted, the various agencies had been able to capitalize on a number of programmes that have explored the country’s potential.
