Government to Finalise Board Chairpersons

Addressing yesterday’s (March 22) post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister, in Kingston, Education, Youth and Information Minister, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, said while there have been discussions about possible selections for Boards, the Cabinet has not approved any, “based on the change of Government.”

The Minister’s comments came amidst public speculation regarding the appointment of individuals to head State Boards.

“There are ongoing consultations, and we have to be looking for persons to fill those positions, but (we) are not in a position to make any formal announcement about Boards,” the Minister said.

“As soon as each Board is named,  at the appropriate press briefing I will make the official announcement. The official position is that the Government has not named any Boards at the moment,” Senator Reid said.
