Details are provided in a Cabinet Ministry Paper tabled in the House of Representatives on December 6.

The document states that the consulting firm will be undertaking a hydrogeological and water-resource investigation and assessment of the impact, if any, of the proposed abstraction from the Rio Cobre River/Basin by the National Water Commission (NWC).

Meanwhile, Cabinet has approved Jamaica’s signing of the agreement establishing the European Union-Latin America and the Caribbean (EU-LAC) Foundation as an international organisation.

The aim of the EU-LAC Foundation is to strengthen the strategic partnerships between the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean, adopted in 1990.

It also seeks to deepen the economic, social and political linkages between both regions by offering various avenues for establishing and maintaining bonds among civil society, academia and the business sector.
