‘Bounty Killer’ to Address Youth Forum

One of Jamaica’s ace entertainers, deejay Rodney Pryce, more popularly known as ‘Bounty Killer’, will be the chief participant in the St. James Junior Council’s Youth Forum, to be held at the Montego Bay Civic Centre on Tuesday (September 28).
The artiste will head a five-member panel of speakers at the forum, entitled, ‘Reasoning: Issues affecting St. James Youths’. The forum will focus on topical issues in relation to young persons and politics, education and HIV/AIDS.
Public and Community Relations Officer for the Council, Suzette Brown told JIS News that the forum should impact positively on young people in the west.
“Bounty Killer has been invited to share his vast experiences as a youth from one of Kingston’s inner cities, and to tell young people how he overcame the odds to emerge with a success story as one of the most outstanding dancehall icons in the entertainment industry today,” Miss Brown said.
She is encouraging all young persons from the various communities, clubs, schools and civic organizations in and around Montego Bay to attend and participate in the youth forum.
Miss Brown noted that other panelists would include Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Noel Donaldson; former Junior Mayor and President of the National Students Council, Deroi Brown; businessman, Dr. Shaun Jones, and President of Jamaica AIDS Support (St. James chapter), Fabian Thomas.
“The St. James Junior Council is a group of students drawn from secondary and tertiary institutions across the parish of St. James, who have come together with the common objective of making a contribution to their communities, by addressing some of the issues affecting their peers and also advocating on behalf of the City of Montego Bay,” she explained.
“This concept of the youth forum emerged from the strong desire for change across the region,” she added.
