The Full Story

The cleaning and beautification of the Trelawny Parish Council building in Falmouth is the Labour Day parish project for Trelawny.
The work will incorporate clean-up of the cenotaph and fountain in the town square.
Chairman of the Civic and Community Relations Sub-Committee, Councillor Fernandez Smith, speaking at a meeting held at the Parish Council yesterday (May 13), informed that the scope of work will include painting, whitewashing of walls, bushing, removal of refuse and planting of flowers.
“We intend to engage the general public inclusive of persons from the business sector,” Councillor Smith said, noting that a health fair will be held on the grounds simultaneously with the work being carried out on the day.
He said that the assistance of organisations such as the Trelawny Health Department, Trelawny Fire Brigade’s Emergency Medical Service (EMS); National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA); National Works Agency (NWA) and several service clubs, have been sought in the implementation of the project.
Councillor Smith indicated that 12 projects have been registered for the parish to date.
A Labour Day church service for the parish will be held on Sunday, May 17, at the Stettin New Testament Church of God, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Labour Day 2009 will be observed on Monday, May 25.
