Approximately $US 16,000 Seized at Port of Montego Bay

PRESS RELEASE: On Friday August 18, 2017, members of the Jamaica Customs Agency seized United States currency concealed in an import shipment on the Port of Montego Bay under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).

During routine examination of a shipment officers were alerted to a discrepancy and further examination led to the discovery of eight packages containing cash concealed in the shipment.

When checked, the packages were found to contain eight (8) rectangular packages with US$16,000.00 / approximately two million
Jamaican dollars (JMD 2,000,000.00)

The matter is currently being investigated by the Border Protection Division of the Jamaica Customs Agency.
