Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Ralph Thomas, will pay a four-day official visit to Hartford, Connecticut, from November 27 to 30.

While in Hartford, the Ambassador will tour the Sportsman Athletic Club and Cricket Hall of Fame, and worship at the Faith Seventh-day Adventist Church, on Saturday, November 28.

The Ambassador will also visit a number of Jamaican businesses and address a special reception at the West Indies Social Club later that evening.

On Sunday, November 29, he will meet with members of the Jamaica Progressive League and attend a church service at the Rehoboth Church of God. Later that evening, the Ambassador will address members of the Jamaican community at a town hall meeting at the West Indies Social Club.

The Jamaican envoy will pay a courtesy call on the Mayor of Middleton, Daniel Drew, on Monday, November 30; hold talks with representatives of the District Export Council, United States Department of Commerce Council International Trade Administration, and the Caribbean Trade Council (CTC), on renewable energy.

Ambassador Thomas will also meet with representatives of Connecticut Medical Centre, where he will discuss research work collaboration with the University Hospital of the West Indies and Kingston Public Hospital.

He will meet with the Chairman of the Transport Committee, State Representative Antonio Guerera and Executive Director, Connecticut Airport Authority, Kevin Dillon, to discuss possible direct flights from Bradley International Airport to Jamaica, with connecting flights to Caribbean islands.

The Ambassador is visiting Connecticut at the invitation of President of the CTC, Andrew Lawrence, who pointed out that Mr. Thomas’ visit to Hartford is very important for the continued economic development of Jamaica. The Ambassador, he said, will have the opportunity to meet with members of the large Jamaican diaspora, officials of the city of Hartford, state representatives as well as representatives of the business sector.

The goal of the visit, he said, is to spur economic development through investment, medical research, and tourism and business collaboration.

Mr. Lawrence pointed out that the CTC’s goal is to continue to promote Brand Jamaica and motivate the Jamaican diaspora to invest in Jamaica.
