Accounts Open in Canada for Hurricane Victims


At least three bank accounts have been opened in Toronto and Ottawa, Canada, to accept monetary donations for the victims of Hurricane Ivan in Jamaica.
The Jamaican High Commission has opened an account at the Royal Bank, situated at the corner of Bank and Queen Streets in Ottawa. The account number is 1014729.
The Jamaican Consulate General in Toronto has also opened an account at the Bank of Montreal, 200 King Street West in downtown Toronto.
Cheques can also be sent to the High Commission or Consulate, made payable to Jamaica Hurricane Ivan Relief 2004.
The Jamaican Canadian Association, the largest and oldest Jamaican organization in Canada, has partnered with the Consulate in this effort and will issue tax deductible receipts for all amounts over Can$25.00.
A 14-member hurricane relief committee in Toronto has opened an account at the Toronto Dominion (TD) Bank, Account #1020-5268137. Donations can be made to this account from any TD branch across Canada.
The members of the committee include representatives from the Jamaican Consulate General, Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), Jamaican Canadian Association (JCA), National Council of Jamaicans and Supportive Organizations in Canada (NCJSOC), Alliance of Jamaican Alumni Associations (AJAA), Jamaica Foundation of Hamilton, Jamaican Diaspora Foundation, Black Community Police Consultative Committee (CPCC) and the Jamaica Information Service.
