190 Students to receive Certificates from MIND

One hundred and ninety students who successfully completed Associate Degrees and Diploma programmes for 2002/03, will receive their certificates from the Management Institute for National Development (MIND) on Saturday, October 25 at a graduation ceremony to be held at the Institute at 235A Old Hope Road. Participants who completed University of the West Indies (UWI) programmes at MIND, will also be certified.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MIND, Maria Jones, told JIS News that this would be the Institute’s first graduation ceremony involving groups of participants from a cross-section of training programmes.
Mrs. Jones said that postgraduate diplomas would be awarded to participants in the General Management Course, which is now in its 32nd year. Diplomas would also be awarded for programmes in Human Resource Management, Project Management and Government Accounting, while Associate Degrees in Accounting would be awarded to participants who successfully completed this popular two-year programme.
The CEO pointed out that persons who successfully completed the highest (Technician) level of the Associate of Accounting Technician (AAT) programme, would receive a MIND Diploma, although they would also be certified by the UK-based organisation.
Successful participants in the MIND/UWI certificate courses in Management Studies and Public Administration would be awarded special MIND Certificates of Achievement, in addition to their UWI certificates. Similar certificates would also be presented to persons who qualified to transfer from MIND to UWI, Mona, having successfully completed at MIND, Level I of the University’s B.Sc. in Public Administration. Executive Director of HEART Trust/NTA, Robert Gregory, is expected to deliver the main address.Several educators and public sector officials are expected to attend, and entertainment for the function will be provided by the Jamaica Constabulary Force Band.
The graduation ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m.
